Who will benefit from the Seeds of Hope project?

Seeds of Hope was set up in 1998 to promote and encourage a range of community activities in the North of Solihull, an area that comes within the bottom 10% of deprived areas in the country, as measured by government data.  It does this in a number of different ways.

Examples include:

A central venue is provided that acts as a base and catalyst for community work and activities.  The project worker operates from a room within the hall, providing a central base for communication and information in the wider community.

The community hall is attached to the local Parish Church, but is operated by Seeds of Hope.  In that sense it is a community owned facility that operates as an asset and resource for the local community.

A very wide range of groups use the facility, growing and developing in their range and provision.  This is because the facility is central to the local community and easily accessible.  The project worker, as the only full-time worker for Seeds of Hope, provides all the necessary administrative support and organisation of the facilities, as well as training, where appropriate.

The project worker is always promoting use of the facility, and the expansion and spread of an even wider range of groups, projects and organisation is enthusiastically promote.

The project has been in operation since 2002, and looks forward to continuing to grow and develop its work over the coming years.  Its continued success is central to the ongoing needs of the community.

The needs of the local community will be met in a variety of ways, but the following cover a good range of them: Providing the use of a local meeting hall which will help reduce the sense of isolation and improve levels of social contact.

The hall will provide a safe and welcoming environment for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Support will be specifically targeted at young people, their families, the elderly, the disadvantaged.

Many members of the local community will be encouraged and supported in living a healthier lifestyle.

By strengthening community assets, they become better equipped to provide vital activity and opportunities, so promoting the idea of joined-up provision and the sharing of community resources.
